Making the Mortgage Industry....sexy?

Let's be honest: the Texas home mortgage industry isn't exactly what you would call 'sexy'. It's based on numbers and there's lots of paperwork involved. Heck, the jargons are enough to make you feel like you're 17 years old again trying to take the SAT through half open eyes at 8 a.m. We get it, and with that in mind, our company recently changed its approach.
If you google "Austin home loans", you'll not only find a plethra of websites that all look pretty similar, but you'll find that they all do pretty much the same thing. They want your information, and that's it. There is no give. Only take. I'm slightly embarrassed to say that our old site was part of that trend. Based entirely around lead captures, there wasn't a lot of original updated content to be had.
Thats when we decided to make a change. What if *gasp!* we actually presented VALUABLE information that was meant to inform? What if *another gasp!* it was stated in REAL TERMS so it was EASY TO UNDERSTAND? This was the inspiration behind the new website we launched--www.americancapitalhomeloans.com.
We know the mortgage industry isn't filled with the most trusted group of guys right now. So what do we do? Evlove. What if we give information, and not just take it? We have our staff writing blogs and giving advice. We also have news feeds, links to our social media sites, and, yes, links to our lead capture pages. Of course we still want people's business, but we want it THE RIGHT WAY.
The site still has a way to go. We're currently working out some design kinks to optimize its pop, as well as optimize its search rankings. We've also been working more heavily with social media. That's right, we're trying to make the mortgage industry SEXY!
Ok, so we may never make it really fun and exciting, but we can at least make it accessable and trustworthy.
By creating video blogs on Youtube, keeping people up to date on Twitter, or even writing here on Activerain, we're getting ourselves out there. But it's only going to work if we're carrying the trump card...
CONTENT. You must, must, must, must, must have good content.
So, can we ever make the Texas mortgage industry sexy? Maybe not, but we can put ourselves out there with the intention of creating a two way street of communication between ourselves and potential clients.
